Spearmint Energy has closed a $47.5 million project finance term loan from Manulife to support the commercial operation of Revolution, Spearmint’s 150 MW, 300 MWh BESS project in West Texas’ ERCOT market.

“We are proud to partner with Manulife, globally recognized for its strong track record of identifying key market leaders and providing capital with meaningful outcomes, for one of its first ever investments in standalone battery storage,” says Spearmint CFO Cory Magnuson. “Our successful closing of this loan amidst a highly competitive bidding process reflects Spearmint’s leading position within Texas’ fast-growing energy storage market as well as Revolution’s success to date in supporting grid stability throughout ERCOT.”

The close of the project finance term loan follows Revolution’s commercial operations launch earlier this year, as well as Spearmint’s prior securing of $92 million in tax equity financing from Greenprint Capital Management and $200 million in term loan financing from Aiga Capital Partners and Nuveen.

Javelin Capital supported Spearmint as financial advisor on the transaction and Paul Hastings LLP served as Spearmint’s legal counsel. Day Pitney served as legal counsel for Manulife.

Marxism

I would be shocked to learn that more than a tiny fraction of 1% of Americans voters consider themselves Marxists. The Republicans are hoping that propaganda like this will be effective, but that’s hard to imagine.

The typical progressive in the U.S. hopes to see this country refashion itself in the manner of the social democracies that are sprinkled all around the globe.

Woke Celebrity Far Out Number Trump Supporters

Glenn Close is what Donald Trump would call a “woke celebrity.” Yet what he’s deliberately ignoring is that he has virtually zero support from the entertainment industry.

Sure, you can find an occasional Clint Eastwood or James Woods.  But for every one of them, you’ll find perhaps a dozen intelligent and kind people like Close who deeply resents Trump’s attempts to steal democracy from the American people and the rest of the civilized world.

I’m no expert on political demographics, but is strikes me that someone like, say Jodie Foster, who could read at age three and graduated from Yale magna cum laude, probably sees life differently from the MAGA base of carrot farmers, truck drivers, and appliance repairmen.

Will You Be Safer if Non-English-Speaking People Can’t Drive?

Most Americans who have the means to travel have rented a car in Paris and driven it all over France. I happen to be the first Avis renter to pick up a car at Heathrow and take it through the Chunnel on my way to Paris, on my way to Stuttgart in western Germany.

How much French do I know?  Close to zero.  I don’t even know the French word for “zero.’  Was I a menace to the French? Doubt it.

This strikes me as pure MAGA racism.  It’s an appeal to punish people with brown skin, or preferably, take them and their little children into detention and ultimately deport them. The more pain, the better.
