Here in the United States, our political leaders thumb their noses at the International Court of Justice. This isn’t new, btw; when George W. Bush and Dick Cheney waged an aggressive war against Iraq in 2003, and no one said a thing.
What’s happening now in Venezuela is far more egregious, but it’s hard to imagine that Trump and Hegseth are too worried about it.
Admiral McRaven made this statement in 2020; God only knows what he’s thinking about this now.
I continue to wonder how it’s possible that people of honor like out top military commanders don’t simply refuse to comply with orders that are so clearly illegal and immoral.
This country has real problems–ones that actually exist. Here, I mean things like poverty, child hunger, environmental collapse, lousy education, and the absence of affordable healthcare.
I tend to vote for the party that is at least attempting to deal with these.

I’m proud to be a dissenter of this regime of hate and ignorance, and I’ll go to my grave in precisely that fashion.
