This week’s “TED Radio Hour” on National Public Radio is called “Paradise Lost–and Found,” and, as the title suggests, it’s about the things in our lives that make us happy.
Below is a talk given by Ramón Méndez Galain who explains how his homeland, Uruguay, runs on 98% renewable energy. What makes this relevant to the theme is his discourse on how happy he is to be a part of a movement that is preventing the ruination of our planet’s capacity to support life. It’s truly touching.
It’s said that those who act decently because they fear the wrath of God and being sent to hell in the afterlife are simply terrible people on a leash. That speaks to me.
The Pope stands in opposition to pointless, illegal wars, cruel and inhumane treatment of the poor, and criminal insanity.
That strikes most of us as “matters of morality.”

Donald Trump is achieving something that I would have said was impossible: alienating the MAGA base. First, he depicts himself as Jesus in a post on Truth Social (see left), then he attacks the Pope (see below).
Christians don’t go for garbage like this.
