ACORE Congratulates New FERC Chair Willie Phillips
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Following is a statement from Ray Long, President and CEO of the American Council on Renewable Energy (ACORE), on Willie Phillips being appointed Chair of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC):
“We extend our congratulations to Willie Phillips for being officially appointed as FERC Chair. As acting Chair, he has demonstrated his strong commitment to his stated priorities for reliability, electric transmission, and environmental justice. ACORE looks forward to continuing to work with Chair Phillips on achieving the grid of the future through a strong transmission planning rule, further steps to expand interregional transmission, additional improvements to the interconnection process, and market reforms to ensure the full participation of all resources. We strongly support Chair Phillips’ commitment to systemically embedding environmental justice and equity into these important efforts.”

Big Money Still Controls Planet’s Energy
When I was in college in the 1970s, I recall hearing people say, “We’ll have solar energy when the Rockefellers own the sun.”
Nothing’s changed too much in half a century.

Even Trump’s Endorsement Can’t Ruin This Guy’s Chances in His Race for Office
It’s hard to imagine how certain politicians can lose in the 2026 midterms, even with “the kiss of death” (Trump’s endorsement).
This guy’s district in Texas is largely the panhandle, far from the more educated and sophisticated parts of the state in Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, and Austin.
He’s a physician and retired admiral.
If for some horrible reason I lived in a town in that district, perhaps called Buzzardsbreath, TX, I would probably vote for him myself, even with Trump’s endorsement.

A Metaphor on the Natural Forces that Support Human Life on Earth
I met a guy yesterday you told me, “We live on this planet at the generosity of the forces of nature. These privileges can be withdrawn at any time, and without notice.”
I thought that was clever.
