This country has a great deal of woes, and our lack of modern railroads is somewhere among them. Having said that, I think we need to resign ourselves to the fact that this will never get fixed. The financial (and thus political) strength of the airline industry is too massive. The cost of all the easements that would be required is astronomical. Communist countries don’t have these problems.
Besides, the United States is in the process of becoming an authoritarian regime. Establishing high-speed rail would be like re-arranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.
Sure, let’s rewrite the Constitution to placate the hateful idiots we live among.
As the United States Descends Further into Stupidity, We Grasp at Straws
It hasn’t been a good last 10 years for those who believe in free speech, rule of law, human rights, and justice.
Maybe we can somehow turn this around.

Was it the left that stormed the Capitol, launched a pointless and illegal war in Iran, worked to stifle voting, indicted political opponents, gave tax breaks to billionaires, cut important government programs, threatened to annex Canada and Greenland, gave Trump, his family, and his businesses immunity from all audits and investigations for any past tax-related misconduct, and made our transportation system and electric grid dirtier?
