A diet that consists of too much snack food hurts one person: you.
The beef industry, by contrast, exists by 1) destroying vast areas of rainforest that formerly was absorbing CO2 out of the atmosphere, and 2) murdering approximately 300 million cows per year (9.52 per second), most of which lived in inhumane conditions (factory farms), and all of which were capable of feeling pain and distress.
That causes agony that far transcends you and your life of Pepsi and Doritos.
Physician Democrat Amy Acton’s run for governor in Ohio appears to be well-timed. The state’s economy is sputtering and, though the state normally votes bright red, there is considerable concern that the Republican party is run by a lunatic whose economic policies have hurt Ohioans badly.
When did the United States abandon intelligence and civility, and start acting like a nation of stupid assholes?
Should we be concerned for our personal safety now that violent, hateful ICE agents may be given immunity from prosecution for murder?
It’s hard to conceive of anything more unAmerican than what’s happening here.
