C.S. Lewis is remembered as a gifted writer who touched the hearts of young and old alike. To those of you who didn’t have the pleasure and honor of reading “The Chronicles of Narnia” with your daughter, only to have the both of you bawling like babies at the end, I’d have to have say that you missed something.
More notably, however, Lewis is among a slim minority of intellectuals who migrated from atheism into Christianity, as opposed to the other way around.
The point he makes here is valid, to a point. I’d have been more impressed had he mentioned that “the importance of Christianity” applies equally to that of Islam, Judaism, and the other hundreds of other religions that exist around the globe as we speak, and to the many thousands of others that existed since humankind came on the scene over the last 200,000 years.
No one seems to be too upset about the fates of Odin, Thor, Zeus, and the uncountable number of other celestial greats that now exist only in the vast god-graveyard, whose deification lies only in human fear and ignorance.
In any case, a great man was Lewis.

What Makes a President a King?
Maybe the protestors are less concerned about length of time in office, and more with criminal authoritarianism.

Blaise Pascal, Renaissance Man–Literally
I have such respect for Pascal that I considered naming our son after him. (My wife wasn’t having it. Maybe if we lived in France?)
Pascal made important contributions to both math and physics but he’s perhaps best known for his philosophic “wager,” that it makes sense to believe in God, since if He exists, you’ll be very glad you did, and if He doesn’t, you haven’t lost anything. I counter that this is not how we accept or reject religious tenets.

Howard Stern Has No Respect for Trump Supporters
“Republican Patriots” writes: Howard Stern once again reveals the contempt so many in the entertainment elite hold for everyday Americans. He claims not to hate President Trump himself, but openly declares his hatred for those who support him, calling them stupid and saying he has no respect for them. This kind of arrogant dismissal shows how out of touch these Hollywood types have become with the hardworking people who built this country.
I’ve got news: contempt for Trump supporters is hardly limited to “these Hollywood types.” The vast majority of Americans–especially at this point–are neither greedy pigs nor hateful morons. We respect human rights and rule of law.
