As suggested in the meme here, does a mechanism exist that enables “a higher consciousness of people to fill the Earth?”

Though this might sound like science fiction, such a thing must exist, otherwise there would be no way to account for the amazing accomplishments of ancient Greece and Rome, the Renaissance, the European Enlightenment / Age of Reason, the French Revolution, the U.S. Constitution, the transcendentalists, women suffrage, and the Civil Rights movement.

Right now, we sure could use a fresh blast of whatever that is.

I know there are people hoping to see human civilization destroy itself, to welcome in the apocalypse as forecast in the book of Revelation. In fact, one of my co-coaches in the days our kids played soccer had this precise belief.

When I explained that my life’s work was to halt the destruction of human society, he chastised me: “Oh no Craig! The sooner life on Earth comes to an end, the sooner Christ will return to summon us all to Heaven!”

I wasn’t impressed with his thinking.
