The video below calls for folks to invest their hard-earned money in a company that offers a novel concept in retailing: using a robot to pull product from the shelves.

I very much doubt that one of these will ever be built, however, largely because of siting.  Where are you going to put one of these and run power to it? Keep in mind that it requires enough room for customers to pull their cars up in front of it and conduct their business.

True, it eliminates the need for a cashier, but a human being still needs to restock it.

I’m not holding my breath.

In their ad, the folks offering “The Most Complete Periodic Table Ever” claim that, if your kid is struggling with chemistry, she can improve with this product, which is essentially tons of useless information.

Who discovered molybdenum? In what year? What is its market value?

We are a society in which our facility with science is now in free-fall. If you think that blunting whatever may remain of your child’s natural curiosity with crap like this a good idea, here’s where to shop.
