I believe the reason some people pride themselves on their lack of interest in politics is that they don’t want to be mired in thinking about some of the country’s scummiest people: Donald Trump, Marjorie Taylor Greene, Greg Abbott, Ron DeSantis, Lauren Boebert, etc.  Where that’s easy to understand, they need to realize that if they don’t like these folks’ character, things can get even worse.

In particular, the next wanna-be dictator is extremely unlikely to be as clumsy as Trump.  He’s not going to take thousands of secret documents in his house, he’s not going to have 18 co-defendants with email chains describing how they were going to seize power after a lawful and fair election, and he’s not going to be facing 91 felony charges stemming from four different criminal indictments.

In general, we reject racism, ignorance, corruption, and environmental destruction.

Understanding Social Democracy

I can’t swear that the content of the meme here is accurate; in fact, most affluent Scandinavians I run across admit that they pay higher taxes than Americans.

They claim that the attraction is that they aren’t forced to live among uneducated slobs where people are dying of treatable diseases with masses of impoverished people living on the streets.

Isn’t there something to be said for that?
