Unless a U.S. president dies in office and is replaced by the VP, the role of vice president is normally a small one indeed. That may be even more the case with milquetoast Mike Pence, though his actions on January 6, 2021 will enshrine him in history as he certified the 2020 vote, and then escaped Trump’s vigilantes who were threatening to hang him outside the Capitol building.
In any case, we need to ask ourselves how important it may be to the outcome of the 2024 election that Pence will not endorse his former boss. Does the typical Trump supporter care? If you truly believe that restoring Trump to the White House is what this country needs, does it matter what Pence or anyone else believes?
I’m not sure that Fox News caused the decline of our nation, but it certainly makes some level of sense.
When I was young, there was no source of “news” that was based solely on the profit to be made by making Americans stupid and mean. In fact, news in most of the 20th Century really didn’t have any real commercial value, because it wasn’t used to sell drugs and useless crap to elderly, addle-minded white people 24 hours a day.
Thirty years later, we have people who are as addicted to this hate news as alcoholics need another shot of booze.
The civilized world is thrilled to see the Catholic church take on the mantle of environmentalism, especially since the religious right still quotes from the Book of Genesis: Only God can destroy the Earth to justify climate denialism.
Most 2GreenEnergy readers don’t live in California, and many don’t live in the United States, so they will be excused for not knowing that the Golden State’s wine industry is falling into the crapper. Young people are drinking far less wine than they were a few years ago.
Exactly why this is remains something of a mystery. Are they smoking more pot? Are they drinking more alcoholic sodas? Are they concerned about their health and longevity?
My guess is that they are less turned on by nuance.
They’re not listening to Beethoven; they’re listening to hip-hop. Music doesn’t produce an effect on their spirit; it produces an effect on their genitilia.
They’re not studying Plato; they’re getting their MBAs and going to Wall Street.
They say, “I should have did (something),” and when I want to correct their grammar gently, they want to slap me across the face.
These are different times, and they are not better times.
