ACORE Congratulates New FERC Chair Willie Phillips

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Following is a statement from Ray Long, President and CEO of the American Council on Renewable Energy (ACORE), on Willie Phillips being appointed Chair of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC):

“We extend our congratulations to Willie Phillips for being officially appointed as FERC Chair. As acting Chair, he has demonstrated his strong commitment to his stated priorities for reliability, electric transmission, and environmental justice. ACORE looks forward to continuing to work with Chair Phillips on achieving the grid of the future through a strong transmission planning rule, further steps to expand interregional transmission, additional improvements to the interconnection process, and market reforms to ensure the full participation of all resources. We strongly support Chair Phillips’ commitment to systemically embedding environmental justice and equity into these important efforts.”

I have such respect for Pascal that I considered naming our son after him.  (My wife wasn’t having it. Maybe if we lived in France?)

Pascal made important contributions to both math and physics but he’s perhaps best known for his philosophic “wager,” that it makes sense to believe in God, since if He exists, you’ll be very glad you did, and if He doesn’t, you haven’t lost anything.  I counter that this is not how we accept or reject religious tenets.
