By the time we’re into our teen years, most of us outgrow the need to bully other kids by calling them hurtful names.

It’s pathetic that U.S. politics has degenerated to the point that one of our two candidates for the presidency thinks that deliberately mispronouncing his opponent’s name could win him votes at the polls.  American voters are not children in terms of chronological development, and it’s a shame that some of us don’t seem to have grown up.

I’m quite sure Kamala Harris will not be calling Trump “Don Old” or “Fatso” or “Don the Dummy” or whatever else cruel idiots might get a chuckle out of.

FWIW, the fact that the we may re-elect a man whose constituents are mostly poorly educated is bad, but that our right-wing news media, e.g., Fox News, follows along and consistently mispronounces “KAH-mela” as “ka-MAH-la” should tell you all you need to know about their legitimacy.

Numerous political philosophers from Aristotle to Jefferson have written the words, or their equivalent, that we see at left.  In fact, the first decent paper I wrote in my quest for a degree in the subject was on Aristotle’s position on “The circumstances under which it’s acceptable to discontinue of friendship.”  Spoiler alert: It’s when a so-called “friend” has undergone a change in character.

FWIW, I don’t want to be a friend of anyone who has adopted the modern-day GOP position on white nationalism, the multi-tiered justice system, the abandonment of rule of law, the dumbing down of America, or trashing the environment for profit.

Published

Let’s examine this.

Republicans lost ground in 99% of the roughly 2,200 counties where most votes had been counted.

Democrats hadn’t won Kansas, a state dominated by the “salt-of-the-Earth,” in nearly a century.

The election left a clear mandate: The end of governance by liars and criminals, restoration of rule of law, adherence to the U.S. Constitution, human rights, and acceptance of science in policymaking.

If this is losing, the vast majority of Americans will take it every day of the week.

Would Charlie Kirk Have Been “Ashamed?”

Published

Not sure “ashamed” is the right word.  Perhaps “appalled” would be a better fit.

Essentially everything Charlie Kirk stood for went up in flames in the U.S. 2026 midterms: white nationalism, the rejection of science, the destruction of the educational system, tax breaks for billionaires, elitism, the consolidation of power around Trump, and lawlessness the the top of the GOP.

A huge victory for truth, honesty, rule of law, and human decency.  Dare I say “DEI?” “WOKEism?”
