As the November election moves closer, it will be interesting to see how many households in this largely Republican part of rural California distinguish themselves as Trump supporters, perhaps by displaying the flag at the left.
I’m going to guess that folks around here will be more reserved than they were in 2016 and 2020, simply because of Trump’s even more extreme behavior: demented rants, bald-faced lies, and outrageous antics at his criminal trials.
My wife thinks I’m wrong. We’ll see.

In an average month, I meet probably five people who traveled here from another country. Unless there is a good reason to avoid the topic, I like to ask how Trump is regarded at home.
Universally, the answer that Trump is a despicable joke. I use the word “universally” in the literal sense; I’ve yet to speak with someone who has anything good to say about the current U.S. president.
