I would love to cite evidence that we’re on the way to “living together as brothers” rather than “perishing together as fools,” but I struggle to find it.
I see too much (and perhaps an irreversible amount of) greed, tribalism, religious fanaticism, indifference to the suffering of others, the rejection of science, and the reliance on war as a tool for the settling of our differences.
Of course, the final chapter hasn’t been written. What if there is a planetary catastrophe, perhaps in the form of environmental collapse, that brings the human race together?

I have never understood how anyone, regardless of how unintelligent and mean-spirited, could vote for Trump. Now, this whole concept is even harder to grasp.
There are many countries around the globe whose people have a deep and honest concern for the wellbeing of their planet and its civilization. As shown at left, Costa Rico is most certainly among them.
Perhaps you live in such a nation. I sure wish I could say that I did.
The United States has too many greedy billionaires and too many hateful idiots.
It was just 25 years ago that the whole world embraced the United States and shared our grief after 9/11.
We’ve taken all that kinship and discarded it as if it were a soiled paper towel.
