From Aldous Huxley: “The greater part of the population is not very intelligent, dreads responsibility, and desires nothing better than to be told what to do. Provided the rulers do not interfere with its material comforts and its cherished beliefs, it is perfectly happy to let itself be ruled.”That said, it’s possible that the 2024 presidential election may present an interesting counter-example. As we sit here, 10 months away, we notice an incredible level of animus when it comes to Trump–even from members of his own party. Traditional Republicans may be concerned that the GOP is rapidly establishing itself as a criminal enterprise, and thus untenable to their voting base.
Sadly, a significant number of U.S. voters believe what House Speaker Mike Johnson says here, i.e., that “God isn’t finished with America yet,” and that “We need people (from the Republican party) of character and integrity,” as if there are any.
But what is that number, roughly?
After living through the first 18 month of Trump’s second term, with all the lies, the incompetence, and the corruption, this number has dwindled to a point that the Republicans are bracing themselves for the worst.
Republicans Manipulate American’s Ignorance — and it Doesn’t Take Too Much Skill
I’m sure some of these excuses are extremely common in the minds of those making huge profits by destroying our planet.
