In a previous post, I presented this short and extremely general video, a representative of ExxonMobil explains Direct Air Capture (DAC), a set of technologies that remove CO2 from the atmosphere.
I mentioned that the concept is doomed to failure, and everyone, including Exxon, knows this.
Their latest installment in promoting this bull**** claims they’re “testing the design in Texas.”
What could these tests possibly conclude? That the design actually does filter out CO2? I’ll grant that, even without the testing. In fact, there are several teams of people around the globe working on this. Only Exxon is spending a fortune promoting it, though, since they are the ones with the huge PR problem associated with baking the planet.
The problem here, and it’s insurmountable, is that this technology has a huge carbon footprint of its own, and that scaling it to deal with the Earth’s atmosphere is a joke.
In their ad, the folks offering “The Most Complete Periodic Table Ever” claim that, if your kid is struggling with chemistry, she can improve with this product, which is essentially tons of useless information.
Who discovered molybdenum? In what year? What is its market value?
We are a society in which our facility with science is now in free-fall. If you think that blunting whatever may remain of your child’s natural curiosity with crap like this a good idea, here’s where to shop.
Poor and working-class Americans are struggling with the current economy.
The MAGA base must be going insane. Trump’s telling them that the economy is great while they’re paying $6/gallon of gas and $12.99 for a pound of hamburger.

The “left” would like to see the United States a) evolve into a social democracy like the countries in Northern Europe, and b) expel its authoritarian president.
Not much new here, and certainly, nothing “goofy.”
