Schopenhauer’s pessimism is essentially everything he left us, and his quote here is representative of that.
We can’t change our birthplace, but does anyone want to do that anyway? We can change anything else about us that we choose, and we certainly don’t spend the rest of our lives defending anything.
Here’s an idea:
Give all descendants of slaves free college, with stipends, like they do in northern Europe.
Within a generation, we’ll have millions of young, highly educated black people, contributing to the work force at much higher levels than they are today.
We all admit that the MAGA base is composed of the most ignorant of Americans, but one has to think that even these people are losing their patience with Trump and the onslaught of catastrophes he’s bringing to the United States.
It’s hard to think of a bad trait that Trump doesn’t manifest.
He certainly has pettiness and vindictiveness nailed.
