The question raised here is a good one.
There are those who foretell the so-called “sixth extinction,” citing the high probability of nuclear war and environmental collapse.
Of course, world fascism wouldn’t cause an extinction per se, but it would render life on this planet hellish indeed.
The best we can do is to a) expel Donald Trump from our political lives, b) support Ukraine against the illegal Russian invasion, c) invest in decarbonization of our energy and transportation sectors, and d) negotiate for international nuclear disarmament treaties.

Building Infrastructure Efficiently
Think of the efficiency associated with driving trucks around, picking up old toilets and sinks that last in homes for many decades, then taking them to a facility where they are ground into small porcelain chips, then shipping the chips to the people who make road bedding.
Incredible.
It would be more cost-effective to shuttle rocks from the moon.

The Politics of Older People
This is funny, but there is a certain sadness to it as well, i.e., that old people tend to be Trump supporters.
It would be interesting to know why this is. Perhaps it has to do with having grown up in the times in which racism was completely acceptable, in fact, de rigueur. Maybe it has some connection with having grown up in the Depression.

Presidential Crimes Commission
At left is Eric Swalwell’s idea for preventing another Donald Trump.
While I grant that something needs to be done to combat Trump and any future sociopath in the White House, I’m not sure we need an extra contrivance, when we already have the 25th Amendment and the power of impeachment.
If we’re going to a congress full of spineless sycophants, we’re screwed in any case.
