From Thies Beckers, aka the “Atomic Jedi”:

Lately in the Netherlands the anti-nukes have been using the “nuclear waste-heat causes climate change” canard.

I wanted to know how much this was compared to the influence of carbon dioxide on the whole deal. And turns out, waste-heat is insignificant on a global scale. There are some local effects which should be considered, but generally, the benefits of having zero-carbon power vastly outweighs the negatives.

Thanks, Thies.  I had not heard this argument, but it doesn’t surprise me to run across garbage like this.

As it turns out, the CEO makes more than $20 million per year, largely based on bonuses associated with cutting costs.  “Now we have tray tables that don’t work and seatbacks that don’t recline, and nobody even thinks about fixing them.”

She went on, “This shift has been particularly obvious in the case of Delta, which, when I started with them, was known for its southern charm and the feeling of welcoming its passengers.  Now, that gone.  It’s like it never existed.”
