ACORE Statement on The Day After the Midterms from President and CEO Ray Long
WASHINGTON, D.C. — After a historic election last night, ACORE congratulates and celebrates all of the officials who will represent their districts in the new year. Energy was on the ballot! Affordable and reliable electricity will continue to be a top issue for voters.
The clean energy industry is responding and needs good and balanced policy in order to be successful at this time. In just the next four years, we need to build 15 times the amount of electricity that New York City uses on peak power days.
Going forward, we need our elected officials to pass energy policy that is durable, through bipartisan compromise; promotes our national objectives, including affordability, energy independence, national security, and international competitiveness; clarity and workability of existing tax policy, which minimizes the risk of development; and that incentivizes investment in energy infrastructure.
This starts with next week’s Senate vote on the Bipartisan American Affordability and Jobs Act (BAAJA). This bill is a remarkable compromise over four years in the making and will go along way toward achieving our energy goals. Passing this bill now will set up the newly elected Congress to focus beyond permitting reform to other needed issues, while enabling energy projects to start moving forward.
Policy reforms are needed to derisk capital investments in power infrastructure. If we build the technologies already on the drawing board, we’ll have a surplus of power by 2030. This represents an annual investment of over $111 billion. But this only happens if we align our energy policy with our energy outcomes.
ACORE looks forward to working with our elected officials across the United States to build out our energy infrastructure, put more people to work, increase our competitiveness, drive down energy costs, and ensure we have the power needed to keep the lights on and the factories humming.

Our work is focused on stabilizing energy prices, strengthening the electric grid, and driving investment in cost-effective technologies to ensure that clean energy delivers for people, businesses, and the U.S. economy.
ACORE convenes a membership spanning the full clean energy value chain—investors and financiers, developers and EPCs, hyperscalers and energy buyers, manufacturers and advisors. Our members were directly involved in more than 80% of the American clean energy infrastructure projects added to the grid in 2025. We champion all clean energy technologies including transmission, solar, wind, storage, geothermal, hydropower, nuclear, and beyond. ACORE members are the companies investing in and building tomorrow’s electric power system, accelerating infrastructure development, strengthening grid reliability, and enhancing domestic competitiveness.

Note to Far-Right Conspiracy Theorists: That Train Has Left the Station
At left we have the words of far-right political activist and conspiracy theorist Laura Loomer.
I have bad news for her: Nobody believes one iota of this garbage anymore.
There was a time when the groups with which she is affiliated, e.g., InfoWars, were taken seriously by a few crackpots. As we all learned as we watched the election returns from the 2026 midterms, this crap is now totally discredited.
The vast majority of Americans want sanity, decency, and rule of law to prevail in their nation. If our democracy is under threat, it’s most certainly not from millions of illegal aliens flooding across the southern border, mysteriously becoming citizens, provided with Social Security numbers, and then voting for people who will give them various forms of public assistance.
She can continue to spew this nonsense, but no one’s listening.

It WAS the Economy
Thirty-five years ago, long before one of America’s two main political parties was lost to lies and corruption, it really was the economy.
And no one’s saying that economic conditions have no bearing on our nation’s political decision-making.
But the results of the 2026 midterm elections show clearly that the U.S. has lost whatever appetite it may had for blatant criminality in our government.
