If Dickens’ hope as expressed here is going to come to fruition, it will be because decent people actively made it happen.

It must be done, because our country is home to some hateful morons who want to see honest, hardworking, taxpaying people with brown skin deported, and their families torn apart.
It wasn’t the American way until recently, but it sure is now.
As shown at left, the United States is loaded with people who twist the facts to their liking.
Of course. Even if Trump is removed from office, then tried, convicted and incarcerated, there will be:
a) A small group who claim he was sent by God to save America, only to be railroaded by the communists.
b) A much larger group who believe that he was doing a good job but became eccentric.
