Ayn Rand was a “thing” in the mid-20th Century. Libertarians point out, correctly, that governments tend to be bloated and corrupt. And still today, many people advocate for small government.
What most of us have realized in the last 70 years, however, is that unbridled capitalism results in the centralization of power into the hands of a few billionaires who essentially own our lawmaking apparatus. It leaves the rest to struggle with poverty, inflation, war, racism, sexism, pollution, climate change, poor education, and limited/no access to healthcare.
With a few exceptions, the super-rich really don’t care about the wellbeing of anyone but themselves, and this is resulting in the implosion of our civilization and the slow destruction of our planet.

Take a Cool Guess—The Fun Quiz on Sustainability. Today’s Topic: Turn Signals
Question: What would you guess is the approximate percentage of cars and pick-up trucks that use turn signals small town in an inland town in Santa Barbara County, California? Is there a discrepancy between cars and pick-up trucks?
Answer: Yes, there is a huge discrepancy. Please see: Clean Energy Answers.
Possible reason for the discrepancy:
a) The main purpose of turn signals is to help pedestrians and other drivers to easily and safely navigate around you. I.e., it’s primarily about consideration for the wellbeing of others.
b) Pick-up trucks are seldom driven by professionals in medicine, law, finance, corporate management, and any other position that requires an advanced education.
c) There is a huge inverse correlation between non-college educated people and Trump supporters. I.e., the higher one’s education, the less likely he is to support Trump.
d) Trump himself has essentially zero concern for anyone who cannot make him richer and more powerful. His supporters admire this callous indifference to others.

How Many Voters Believe Crap Like This?
We’ll soon find out how many American voters believe that the Republicans are the party of defending our Constitution.
Buying this requires that we accept Trump’s consolidation of power, the most blatantly corrupt president in U.S. history. It also necessitates the belief that Democrats are essentially communists.
I’m betting that message will fail.

Trump Is Largely Speaking to Idiots
Keep in mind that the Trump base is composed of approximately 5% amoral rich people and 95% hateful morons. Not to put too fine a point at, that’s one hell of a lot of hateful morons, most of whom know nothing about Norway, many of whom couldn’t find the country on a map of the world.
