Ed Sheeran: From Busking Boy to Global Superstar
Ed Sheeran, the red-haired singer-songwriter with a guitar strapped to his back, has become a global phenomenon. His journey from busking on London streets to selling out stadiums worldwide is a testament to his talent, hard work, and relatable songwriting.
Early Steps and Humble Beginnings:
Born in Halifax, England, in 1991, Ed’s passion for music began early. He learned guitar at 11, sang in a church choir, and started writing songs in his teens. By 14, he was already performing at open mic nights and uploading music online. In 2004, at the age of 13, he independently released his first EP, “Spinning Man,” showcasing his raw talent and acoustic sound.
Busking to Breakthrough:
Undeterred by the challenges, Ed moved to London at 18, armed with his guitar and a dream. He spent years busking on the city’s vibrant streets, honing his craft and gaining a loyal following. A chance encounter with Jamie Foxx in 2006 led to an invitation to perform in Los Angeles, where he connected with key industry figures.
Independent Rise and Chart Domination:
In 2010, Ed self-released his debut EP, “Loose Change,” and gained traction through YouTube videos like his acoustic rendition of “Cradles” by Coldplay. This caught the attention of rapper Example, who invited him on tour. Soon after, Ed signed with Asylum Records and released his debut album, “+” (Plus), in 2011. Singles like “The A Team” and “Lego House” became instant hits, establishing his signature blend of relatable lyrics and catchy melodies.
Global Recognition and Collaborations:
Ed’s sophomore album, “x” (Multiply), released in 2014, propelled him to global superstardom. Singles like “Sing,” “Thinking Out Loud,” and “Don’t” topped charts worldwide, earning him numerous awards, including Grammys and BRIT Awards. He collaborated with artists like Taylor Swift and One Direction, further solidifying his place in the music industry.
Genre-Bending Experimentation and Continued Success:
Ed’s subsequent albums, “÷” (Divide) in 2017 and “No.6 Collaborations Project” in 2019, showcased his willingness to experiment with different genres while maintaining his signature songwriting style. He explored pop, hip-hop, and R&B, collaborating with artists like Justin Bieber, Stormzy, and Camila Cabello. Each album yielded chart-topping hits like “Shape of You,” “Perfect,” and “Bad Habits,” solidifying his status as a global music icon.
Personal Life and Philanthropy:
Beyond his musical achievements, Ed is known for his down-to-earth personality and commitment to philanthropy. He married his childhood sweetheart, Cherry Seaborn, in 2018, and they have two daughters. He actively supports various charities and uses his platform to advocate for social causes.

ACORE Statement on Treasury’s Safe Harbor Guidance
ACORE Statement on Treasury’s Safe Harbor Guidance
Statement from American Council on Renewable Energy (ACORE) President and CEO Ray Long on Treasury’s Safe Harbor Guidance:
“The American Council on Renewable Energy (ACORE) is deeply concerned that today’s Treasury guidance on the long-standing ‘beginning of construction’ safe harbor significantly undermines its proven effectiveness, is inconsistent with the law, and creates unnecessary uncertainty for renewable energy development in the United States.
“For over a decade, the safe harbor provisions have served as clear, accountable rules of the road – helping to reduce compliance burdens, foster private investment, and ensure taxpayer protections. These guardrails have been integral to delivering affordable, reliable American clean energy while maintaining transparency and adherence to the rule of law. This was recognized in the One Big Beautiful Act, which codified the safe harbor rules, now changed by this action.
“We need to build more power generation now, and that includes renewable energy. The U.S. will need roughly 118 gigawatts (the equivalent of 12 New York Cities) of new power generation in the next four years to prevent price spikes and potential shortages. Only a limited set of technologies – solar, wind, batteries, and some natural gas – can be built at that scale in that timeframe.”

Wine Grapes and Climate Change
I just spoke with a guy in the wine industry, and I asked him how, if at all, climate change is affecting what we does.
From his perspective, it’s the horrific wildfires whose smoke imbues (or “taints”) the grapes with an unpleasant flavor that needs to be modified, normally by creative methods of blending.
